This interview was conducted on the occasion of the publication of the book The Eye of the Master: A Social History of Artificial Intelligence (Verso 2023). The research for this book was primarily conducted during Matteo Pasquinelli’s time as a professor at HfG Karslruhe, and many of the themes explored in the publication were previously debated also in his teaching seminars.

YGL: Durante la prima guerra in Iraq, quella del 1990, di Bush padre, avevamo appena finito un film sul Caucaso, sulla Russia e sull’Armenia, sul genocidio degli armeni. Uomini Anni Vita, realizzato con una produzione tedesca, la stessa di Dal Polo all’Equatore. A un certo punto ci chiama il nostro contatto alla televisione tedesca e ci dice: “Questa notte proiettiamo il vostro film. Questa notte gli americani attaccheranno l’Iraq.” Era una notizia segreta, nessuno in Italia lo sapeva.
